Just a heads up that a change in internet protocol standards mean that some internet browsers will require a website connection that's secure.
You'll know a connection is secure when the URL reads as https://
Currently, our forum (and all forumotion forums) is HTTP only. See our URL here: http://slimmingworldclub.niceboard.org/
From January 2017, if you're using Google Chrome and the website you're visiting is HTTP and not HTTPS, it may display an alert that the website is 'not secure'.
We have set a workaround on this forum so that members shouldn't get this error but if you do, don't be afraid, having this alert does not mean that this forum is not secure. This is simply an advisory message, dictated by the new standards imposed by the use of a secure connection protocol, between the web server that hosts this forum and your web browser.
Although there is no obligation for us to adopt this new protocol, the best solution is to have the possibility to put this forum in HTTPS mode. If we do adopt it, in addition to providing a more secure web space for our members, our forum would also display a "secure" message in web browsers.
Forumotion (who host our forum) are currently working on this.
We'll keep you updated.

UPDATE:
Forumotion have now set up the new protocol BUT for it to be applied to this forum, we will need to pay an annual fee for this.
What this means is, if we don't pay for a HTTPS connection, members will continue to see a warning message when they login (especially if using Firefox) and although the message might appear off-putting, please be assured, THIS FORUM IS INDEED SAFE TO VISIT!
I will consider purchasing a HTTPS/Certificate at some stage, but as our members here appear not very active right now on this forum, it's an unnecessary expense.
If our members should visit more frequently, create new topics and generally post more, I will reconsider the HTTPS option in the future.

Just a reminder, if you're seeing a message that this site is not encrypted, this forum is still SAFE to visit - we just don't have an SSL Certificate. These certificates incur annual fees and as we're a non-subscription free forum, we don't have an income to pay for this add-on. It would be nice to have, but it will have to stay on our wish list for now.
